ABOVE ME
Come the end of our lives -
The ultimacy of our legacy
- Is the sum of all our words
For some, they'll linger here
- As memories
Of when our words were heard
I want to make mine work for me
And make up for those that didn't
- For, those ones that got away from me
- Were the hard results
Of bad decisions
- So if even once
I've said I love you
I'll never once regret it
Please don't hold those words against me
Because I meant them when I said it
When you use your words to vilify
To gossip,
Disparage and put down
- They'll haunt you
Once we've put you
Eight feet under ground
You may trifle in debauchery
Or be rife with indecision
But when you speak with negativity
You're the cause of your derision
So maybe you should make them count
Maybe even say - you love me
For those words will never manifest
Once you're gone
- And high above me
