HIGH
Crazy talking homeless guy
Sits outside the station
Waiting for a passerby
To accept his invitation
To venture into mumbling
'Bout all of his frustrations
'Bout endless inequities
And the state of many nations
Sunglass wearing wiry guy
Joins the conversation
But he's sweating methamphetamines
Causing homeless hesitation
I sit and stare from safety
Locked inside my car
Mesmerized by the duality
Of who each truly are
One dirty and downtrodden
Who sleeps behind the station
While the other lives so low
Yet is obsessed with elevation
I sit and watch with wonder
I – the other passerby
Observant passenger of this moment
- And I'm the only one who's high.
