JOURNEY’S OVER

I kind of have a habit

When I wake up everyday

And that's on my drive to work

I sing-along with MJK

He thrills me and he fills me

With these words that I must sing

Driving to my layman's job

In this sad world of human beings

2000 years ago was Jesus

Sometime before the quiet Buddha

But I'm just as thrilled to know what wine

Pairs well with a Gouda

And while I know that it is cheesy

To judge a man just by his work

"I know the pieces fit "

So I am proud to sound absurd

When I came to Arizona

I went straight through to Caduceus

Got my twelve dollar glass of wine

Like some damn informed enthusiast

I sat and laughed there quietly

At the real meaning of a merkin

Dreamed I lived right in Jerome

And the vineyard I could work in

But I quickly popped that bubble

When I asked

"What one must do to work the Vineyard?"

And the girls behind the counter

said -

"You have to prove you're no fan of Maynard's!"

And while I knew that it was stupid

Just some simple plot of fantasy

Some day,

At Arizona Bay

I'm sure he'd love to have a chat with me

I know that it sounds strange

My life changed

'Cuz of "Conditions of my Parole"

But it was my life

That changed first

Maynard just told me where to go

When I soaked in all the words

And the overtaking chorus of "Green Valley"

I knew I had to weigh my worth

Before the Verde and her majesty

I then went from town to town

Saw all the places I could choose from

And while I really liked Cottonwood

It wasn't half as good as Tucson

Still those words of his rang in my head

"'Til she whispers you can stay"

Just one night down on 4th Avenue

and I knew I'd found my Way

Found a job, a life and a home

And now I'll seek to find my lover

'Til this She - I came to find

Whispers that my journey's over
