ONE FOR ME
In my entire life
I never had the likes of you
Never had cause to be jealous
Not a thing I couldn't lose
When the going got tough
I was glad to walk away
Never had the kind of love
Where I'd beg for it to stay
But what we have
Now
I wouldn't dare to live without
Though it gives me cause to worry
And it gives me cause to doubt
Not because you give me reason
But because my cause is you
I'd lie for it
I'd kill for it
I'd die for it
For you
When I look into the mirror
I see the difference I've found
All my constants now are changing
Turns my consonants to sound
Fills my heart with verbiage
Oh, this poetry of two
Not a thing I wouldn't plunder
Just to offer it to you
Yet now I find this new emotive
Swimming in this foreign sea
I'm possessive, I'm compulsive
With this new found currency
Not a thing I do is selfish
Just the thought of that confounds
I'd be derelict in my duty
If I ever let you down
That's what's strange
- I must protect you
I feel that urge
Down deep inside
Makes me humble
Yet neurotic
At the thought
Of other guys
I want to squash them
To delete them
To castrate them
One by one
I'm fueled by righteous anger
- They had their chance
- But fucked it up
I just want solace
Quiet moments
As we lie there arm in arm
Feel your warmth
Pressed up against me
As I give in
To all your charms
Watch you stand triumphant
As we conquer every storm
See our future acquiesce
Giving way to shape and form
Nothing more
Could come of this
Than the all we have to give
There's nothing more
I want from this
Than this life
We get to live
I just want to be your only
And I'll give my guarantee
Your the light I hold inside
And the only one for me
