OUT LOUD

Iodine lipstick

And celluloid dreams

Minerals by fire

Awaken memories

Drowning in self-loathing

Turns crystals into steam

Once robust in recollection

Now thwarted by dis-ease

Breaking down in moments

You tear apart the seam

What sought to hold together

Is undone now chemically

Spitting venom with the voices

Of the ones whom came before

Left alone now to the vices

And devices love abhors

Too much going round here

And each time around the bend

Think you've made such progress

But you're back where you began

Twenty-five years it's slave

So you'll just embrace it more?

What happened to this love

And these things we're fighting for?

No insistence can persuade you

You'll just scoff this love away?

Raise your voice, avoid the choice

Compel yourself to stay the same?

When you look over your past

You cannot see what you've endured

Is the result of one affliction

That addiction has obscured

You've never had a chance

Your reality misconstrued

Misaligned and misanthropic

Misinformed inaptitude

Everything would come out clearly

If you'd lift away the cloud

Otherwise your life's a lie

That you have to live out loud
