TO HUM

Not to be absurd

I need a new grip of words

Found smiley faces

In random places

I didn't know

And hadn't heard

Since In Search Of a Word

Suddenly I'm blatantly

And ardently

Happily

Whistling like a bird

No more suffering

The things I 'd heard

On the flipside

Of this life

That I find

Absurd

I now have the time

To Breathe in

Breeze in

Slip out

Kicked my doubts

Out the back door

So there's no route

For them to lay claim

To my life anymore

Gonna Buy new rhymes

At the bookstore

Gonna lay them all out

Pick and Choose

Which ones I'll use

Going forward

Going to take the old me

Lay him out on the grass

Offer little bits

For cash

To the passerby

As they pass me

Yard sale of dreams

Garage sale of life

I'll take forty-nine cents

For memories

Of my ex-wife

Take a nickel and dime

For memories

Of that guy

Who betrayed me

And did everything

To frustrate me

For 99 cents

You can have all the time I spent

Recovering

From slavery

I'll give you all my hurt for free

It's wrapped in Saran Wrap

In a plastic bag

It's a curb alert

For anybody

With a sign that says:

"FREE"

All I want is to stand tall

In this new world

As it unfurls and

Rolls out into spectacular

Learn this new vernacular

Something new

Something different than my native tongue

Something you

Will want to understand

And that you will want

To hum
