WINDBLOWN
I'm overblown
By the wind that's filled my sails
Caught in its gales
Beaufort cries beneath my feet
I'm opened now, wide
Tethered lines, scream
Taut cord like string
I'm about to drop anchor
I feel like a sailor
Telling tales of secret shores
Of buried treasure
Mermaid myths
And pirate lore
Of sunken ships
Troubled waters
And Poseidon's see
I'm waiting here for Triton
To come and rescue me
Barnacled with seashells
And the tail of a great fish
He hands me Enki's lofty message
Fulfilling my one wish
To find my purpose
See it mixed
In the blackness of the sea
The stars my only hope
For this plan that's guiding me
Back to Sumer
And to Babylon
Back to Gilgamesh
And Ganesh
Wrapped up in - these ancient tales
Is the truth that we were left
Back from gods who once had fallen
Down to earth and frozen sea
Metered out their only portion
Of the gold which we still seek
Tired of digging and of searching
And about to mutiny
‘Twas three gods who settled clamor
Giving birth to you and me
And now as time has passed
And turned into centuries
Man is lost and far from certain
In a host of mysteries
Praising God and vying
For salvation yet begun
Some seeking out their Heaven
Some worshiping the gun
Some awaiting the messiah
Some praying to the Son
Some pleading for redemption
As they scrutinize the rest
Some living in, war stricken lands
And hoping for the best
Some seeking out the garden
Or their own Gethsemane
Some sweating tears of blood
Or seeking blood of enemies
Some bow down to Allah
Some wait for bodhisattva
Some wait for second comings
Or an appearance from Gautama
Some simply wait for Jesus
Eyes, planted firmly on the cross
Some sing praise to giant Redwoods
Living off of leaves and moss
But in all of this, a mess
Dogma - man's best guess
Cannot ever be our sutra
But is the cause of our duress
It should be simple
It should be certain
That same message from above
The simple adage, ancient message
The only God - is Love
So come aboard this mighty ship
This the source of golden wealth
Do to others as you'd have them do
And love your neighbor
As yourself
