Too intense to hold a focus

Like staring at the sun

Can't look too long

At all the hopeless

Spin around like I am drunk

Cuz It's way too much to know this

Heart I wear out on my sleeve

Is not received by all who own it

I understand despair

And I understand the pain

I understand the past

And all the faults and blame

I understand that happiness

Is a rare commodity

But I cannot understand

Why love's so frightening

Anyone can have it

And it's so easy to give

It's supposed to be the reason

That we have this life to live

But now it's spoke in whispers

Out of fear it might be heard

Or it's used in lines of curses

Just another dirty word

People covet all their pain

Like it is their right of passage

If they seek no love to gain

They are safe within the blackness

Speak of love to just complain

Of how difficult their past is

But without love on the brain

I'd be one amongst the masses

But I think those who don't "want" it

Just got caught up in a trap

Tried to build their way to safety

But got caught up in the lack

Of the love that they were leaving

From the life they'd left behind

Then lack becomes the way

They try to lead a loveless life

But I won't let it bother me

When they want to run away

When they say they want for nothing

When they don't ask me to stay

For I know that the real reason

That their hearts are filled with doubt

Is they wish that they could share this love

That I can't live without
