BEFRIENDS ME
Wouldn't it be nice to be fascinating
To have someone hang on your word
To have them love you at your best
And laugh when you're absurd?
To remind you that you're awesome
When you feel alone and grumpy
To tell you you're good looking
When you're only feeling ugly?
Wouldn't it be nice to matter
When you're not feeling like much
To be told that it's okay
When you're feeling out of touch?
Wouldn't it be nice
To be found without a fault?
To be loved for who you are
Without judgement at all?
Wouldn't it be nice
To come home without a care
To do just what you want
With another person there?
Not a moment of affliction
Not a moment of correction
Just that someone who loves you
Despite your imperfections?
Wouldn't it be nice to be trusted
And have that trust mean something
To have it without conditions
But where trust was an assumption?
Wouldn't it be nice if sex were free
And you could do just what you want
Just you and your perfect lover
Without concerns at all?
Wouldn't it be nice if you could speak
From the depths within your heart
With out fear of repercussions
Like conversation was an art?
Wouldn't it be nice to say I love you
And those words met with sheer acceptance
Not a moment was it doubted
But instead it WAS perfection?
I think that's what I'm wanting
Despite the constancy of failure
I know that it is possible
And I'm sure I'd never fail her
She's a fantasy, and idiom
A perfect combination
That corrects my broken heart
With out any hesitation
I know that she is perfect
I find her right here in me
I look forward to our future
On the day that she befriends me
