ON PURPOSE too
My past dropped by to remind me
Just how good life is
Only took a short time
To agree and decide this
Watched as passers-by
Turned into alignment
And broke me free
Of constraints
And confinement
Willow trees
Reached down and slapped me
-Lazy bends-
Reached out like the feigned pain
Of self-involved-ex-girlfriends
Beaches of beached bitches
Crying "me-me-me"
Endlessly
To the sea they soiled
Tin-foil helmets
Cling to me
Former adornments
From the daze
Of my idiocy
I am the power
Of my former self
Re-enriched
By something other
Than their approval
Enlivened
By something else within myself
I am the preacher who teaches nothing
Just stares at the choir
Humming
That song from that one good day
Forget the congregation
This smile is worth it
And yes
-I did this on purpose-
