BUT TWO
I'll tell you something frightening
That I think you ought to know
Love's more than a plant
Or tree
That you water to make grow
There's actually something more
Than and emboldened sense or daring
A precondition in the first place
That you must be a perfect pairing!
You cannot "make it work"
Those traditions are a lie
You must find your perfect woman
You must find your perfect guy
There's a match for you
And you'll know it
When you hear that voice within
That says with perfect clarity
"I'd do anything for them!"
Until then it's just a farce
It's a silly uphill battle
If that anything you'd do
Doesn't come from every angle
And it can't ONLY be in you
They must have that constant longing
Ever sure in their belief
Of your mutual belonging
Then you never "have a fight"
You have subtle disagreements
That thrive on communication
And the love you both believe in
Respect becomes a way of life
Tenderness the breath you breathe
You never long for "something better"
Never once dare think to leave
You're just with that perfect partner
That reflection that is you
When you find that perfect pairing
There's never one
But two
