HESITATION

Your delicate like a flower

Slightly broken at the stem

And though I feel your power

You've been blown 'bout by the wind

You surprised me

- Quite vivacious

Though you strive to hold it in

Could sense the deluge

- Of your tears

From the drought you've held within

You threw me off, quite easy

Eyes softly speak unspoken words

But the fact is that I saw you

And in your subtleties I heard

How you're caught up in your longing

And how that's parallel to me

Despite the wary ways of love

Hope brings a sense - of urgency

I went there as a courtesy

Or some sense of obligation

Thought I'd have a cup of coffee

And a decent conversation

Added cream but dropped the sugar

Struck at once with fascination

By the woman sitting quietly

Who now surpassed my expectations

And now I have to mull this over

Was well received – I could have kissed you

But I'm a gentleman so I can't kiss

On the day that I've just met you

Still I could see this real potential

Our chemistry could surely be

Encouraged to a blazing fire

If left alone with you and me

You put a smile in my brain

And now I think to entertain it

Whether I should push this forward

Or should seek to just restrain it

I'm inclined to do the former

But what if I should drink some wine?

I'm a man of many virtues

But one or two come from the vine

Sometimes I have to quell this energy

If I'm to push this bliss to synergy

But in the end it's you who'd benefit

From my force-fed change of frequency

I just know me and moreover

Know the things that I must do

If I'm to quell this thinking man

And release this beast within for you

So I guess that's what I want to say

I am everything but perfect

I'm attentive though I'm stubborn

And I do everything on purpose

I'm more than an ardent lover

Filled with thoughts that might astound you

But if you break me down to pieces

I'm much more than they'd amount to

I'm delighted that I've met you

And I feel this inclination

To satisfy this sudden urge

To seek another invitation

To come to you at once

And put aside our reservations

But if I did I'd more than kiss you

Without any hesitation
