NEXT TO ME

Why is this so difficult?

I'd really like to know

I'm more interesting than 20 men

And as good-looking as most

I'm loyal and I'm faithful

And I know just how to grind

I know the value of a woman

And how she likes to spend her time

I'm so funny I can make you

Shoot water out your nose

I can find the things I know you'd like

I could even pick your clothes

I pay attention to the details

That you think I never heard

I can write a poem on an impulse

With my mastery of words

I have an intellect that's so profound

I might even overwhelm you

When I unleash my mind to tell the tales

That I would love to tell you

I know of ancient history

And the sum of most religions

I've learned from their example

And avoid their bad decisions

I'm insightful and I'm delicate

Can tell when I should listen

I know when I should be the man

Or be open to your wisdom

I know the things that I should say

In softly spoken tones

I know when I should hold your hand

Or give you time alone

All I want is something simple

(Real love has no complexities)

And in the end - I guess I find

This truly sets my mind at ease

For in this sea of endless faces

ONE will find her perfect place is

The two of us combined
