ONLY CAUSE

This fire burns inside me

Like the one that burns below

Every night I cause ignition

Then I watch 'til it burns slow

Like some chemical reaction

Fire burns then it subsides

And though the flame may dwindle

It never really dies

Even when it faults to flicker

Even when it dives too low

It remains a burning ember

That is hidden in the coal

But when a wind should greet it

But when the fuel should come

It rises like the Phoenix

And sings it's sacred song

Fire like our energy

Burns inside of you and me

Pumps our heart and fuels our tears

Bathes our days to countless years

It is such a subtle secret

And the essence of destruction

Yet the fire still remains

As the essence of our function

Burning fire you and me

Waxing waning energy

We have our hundred years to know

Then we recycle inner glow

Bring our ember to the cross

Back to the apex that's our cause

Share our fire there with the "him"

Then give cause to live again

There's no shame in incarnation

Never ending reclamation

Flicker fire like our God

Return then go

Our only cause
