TO DREAM

I'm totally at a loss with some people

I don't know where to take that

Or go

How is it when another betrays you

They think they're entitled to know?

Who you're with, what you do

The pleasures you seek

The people that are in your life

When the only gifts THEY ever gave you

Was hate, pain, heartbreak and strife?

I'm too tired for anymore hatred

To inspired to give it a care

To weary of another's intention

When they've already laid my heart bare

They bury themselves in their lies and deceit

Too scared to look at themselves...

So they just carry-on with their own tantrums

And focus on everyone else

I can't believe that I married a child

Or that I once even dated a whore

I'm sorry to use those words harshly

But I could say so very much more

Some people don't deserve my good treatment

Yet I've wrapped myself up in their sins

Had to start my life over and over

For their ending is where I'd begin

The best people I've known

- Are broken

They've lived with pain most of their lives

They can't ever find time to judge you

And they haven't much really to hide

They're outspoken when time will permit them

There heartbroken - that's one thing we share

But not because of another

But the same words I'm using right here!

Some, have to raise their lost children

Some find the children they've lost

Some rode the brink of starvation

But fought their way back at all costs!

Some watched their parents die slowly

Still others saw parents succumb

To drugs from all their self loathing

And lifetimes of walking 'round numb

Yet somehow all of those problems

Round them out - and turn them to joy

They treasure life's every moment

Never give-in to shortcuts or ploys

Their hearts are soft like smooth velvet

Their souls are like honey and cream

And no matter what life ever gives them

They never stop daring to dream
