OWN LIFE
To me the number one crime
Should be larceny
Steal what you want, please
But don't take it from me!
I've worked too hard
To have these things
That I need
But larceny is proof
People will steal anything
Emotional larceny
Larceny of time
Take what you will
But don't take mine
If you want to be a thief
Try shoplifting
(It's a victimless crime)
And you'll get what you want
Without waiting in line
With larceny
You're not stealing some thing
You're stealing someone
The victim is the intention
It's a jealous crime
Where no one wins in the end -
(And we shouldn't have to obsess
On loss prevention!)
The coward steals from people
Sits and stews all the time
Making master plans
For what they knows is not right
Like a Gollum
They obsess
With their "precious"
Every night
It's a grass is always greener thing
They see something they want
But have not
The energy to do it
And unfortunately
They don't realize
What they've gotten into
'Til they're into it!
This in turn makes them a victim
Suddenly locked in to swim
In their ill intentions
Caption and asportation
Be damned!
Then they cry up to God
Blaming Him,
Berating him
With their sinful errant hands!
Beating their fists at the sky
They cry out wayward "Why's?"
As if this God on high
Should be impressed with sin
But that's His moment
When He confides in them
That their life and belief
Is a lie
And though they lock that inside
Trying to expunge
Their newest acquisition
The larcenous fool
Shall never see true fruition
For the reward lies
In accomplishment
But all the coward gets
Is blandishment
From their own life
